I took this photo when we were in the Bay of Islands at the beginning of December with a hope of getting lots of images of Santa in a bathing suit…however this turned out to be the only one I got. Still…Santa dresses differently near the South Pole vs. the North Pole.

Just thinking of all of you on the other side of the world! A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We took a short drive on Christmas Day to Hokitka Gorge to see the “glacial flour” turquoise waters and the gorge…The gorge was there, but because of the rain, the turquoise was replaced with a greenish tinge.

Much love to you all!

Addendum to Day 47

A New Zealand tree referred to as the Christmas tree, the Pohutukawa, blooms around Christmas time. I took the photo on the left on Nov. 30 just as the trees were beginning to get their “Christmas ornaments”…  When I saw the tree on the right in Akaroa more than a month later, I wanted to prove why it is called the Christmas tree.

Here’s a close up of the Christmas “ornaments”…
Talk about an easy way to decorate a tree…
